Learning Communities for School Success Program (LCSSP)

The Learning Communities for School Success Program (LCSSP) supports evidence-based, non-punitive programs and practices that help California’s most vulnerable students stay engaged, connected, and successful in school.

Through LCSSP, Ocean View School District is strengthening student wellness, improving attendance, expanding family partnerships, and creating welcoming school communities where every student can thrive.

Ocean View School District is proud to have received $306,000 in LCSSP Cohort 9 funding over three years: 2025–26, 2026–27, and 2027–28.

This exciting investment is helping OVSD:

  • Expand attendance and engagement supports through early intervention, individualized assistance, family outreach, and coordinated services for students experiencing chronic absenteeism
  • Strengthen the districtwide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) so students receive timely academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support
  • Build stronger partnerships with families and community organizations by connecting students and caregivers with mental health, housing, food, medical, and other essential resources
  • Advance trauma-informed and restorative practices that address the root causes of student challenges while promoting accountability, healing, and positive relationships
  • Create welcoming and inclusive schools where students and families feel valued, supported, and connected
  • Support OVSD’s LCAP goals by improving school culture, student belonging, attendance, and equitable access to services

OVSD will measure the grant’s impact through attendance data, suspension rates, student and family feedback, school climate surveys, and quarterly MTSS reviews.

Over the three-year grant period, the district is working toward ambitious goals, including:

  • Reducing chronic absenteeism by 5% each year
  • Reducing suspension rates by 1% each year
  • Increasing students’ sense of belonging and trusted relationships by 5% each year

LCSSP is creating powerful new opportunities for OVSD students and families. By investing in connection, wellness, early intervention, and meaningful partnerships, Ocean View School District is building stronger school communities and helping every student feel supported, inspired, and ready to succeed!
